Edward A. Sickles, M.D.

Edward A. Sickles, M.D. Dr. Sickles is Professor Emeritus of Radiology at the UCSF School of Medicine and served as Chief of the Breast Imaging Section at the UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco for almost 30 years. Dr. Sickles is a prolific contributor to breast imaging education and the scientific literature. He has provided editorial services to 12 professional journals, has been the author or co-author of 10 books and monographs, more than 220 scientific articles, and almost 100 other scientific communications. He has presented papers at more than 200 scientific meetings and has been an invited speaker at more than 800 educational seminars and medical institutions in 42 states in the United States and in 31 foreign countries.

Dr. Sickles has also served on many breast imaging committees of the American College of Radiology since 1980, and has chaired the ACR Committee on Mammography Interpretive Skills Assessment since its inception in 1992. In his commitment to improving the science and art of breast imaging, Dr. Sickles has also served in a leadership position in 10 other professional societies and organizations, and on over 40 committees both nationally and internationally. He is a founding member and past president of the Society of Breast Imaging. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and special recognitions for his dedication, service and contributions to breast imaging, including the Gold Medal of the Society of Breast Imaging and honorary membership in four international radiological societies.

Michael N. Linver, M.D., F.A.C.R.

Michael N. Linver, M.D., F.A.C.R. Dr. Linver has been a specialist in Breast Imaging for the past 25 years. He is Director of Mammography for X-Ray Associates of New Mexico, P.C., in Albuquerque, and Clinical Professor of Radiology at the University of New Mexico. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed his post-graduate medical training at the University of California at San Francisco, Vanderbilt University, and the University of New Mexico.

Dr. Linver is a busy lecturer on mammography, having presented over 600 lectures throughout the United States and 15 foreign countries around the world. He is the author of over 50 published articles and chapters of textbooks on mammography, and is a strong political proponent of quality mammography. Toward this end, he spearheaded the successful campaign to enact mandated quality mammography screening legislation in New Mexico in 1990, and served on the original National Mammography Quality Assurance Advisory Committee to the FDA under MQSA from 1994 to 1997. He helped author the A.H.C.P.R. document, "Quality Determinants of Mammography", and co-chaired the American Cancer Society's consensus conference in Chicago on screening mammography guidelines for pre-menopausal women in 1997.

Dr. Linver is past president of the New Mexico chapters of both the American College of Radiology and the American Cancer Society. He was a long-standing member of the A.C.R. BI-RADS Committee, and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the National Consortium of Breast Centers. He is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology, and was recently elected a Fellow of the Society of Breast Imaging.

Gary Levine, M.D.

Gary Levine, M.D. Dr. Levine joined Real Imaging's Scientific Advisory Board in 2013. Dr. Levine received his undergraduate degree from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts and his medical degree from Albany Medical College in New York. He completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of California, Irvine and became board certified in diagnostic radiology in 1992. He went on to do specialized fellowship training in breast imaging in Sweden, under renowned mammographer Dr. Laszlo Tabar.

Dr. Levine is the Director of Breast Imaging at Hoag Breast Care Center in Newport Beach, California and is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Radiology at USC Medical Center. He has served on the Board of the Orange County Radiologic Society, is presently on the Board of Trustees of the National Consortium of Breast Centers and is on the Steering Committee of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) – Breast Program. He has authored numerous peer reviewed medical journal articles and book chapters, and regularly appears on TV as a medical expert in the field of breast cancer. He was named in 2007 as one of the top 25 innovators in healthcare by Health IT magazine. He is an expert and pioneer in the technique of breast tumor cryoablation.
